It’s been a while since posting, it seems.
Today I’m sharing about big family love. Lots of it. They’re still adding to their family…..even bigger love.
This family, in particular, Jill…. the blonde-haired daughter in these photos, was nominated for my Because Of You Project for her determination to have her family photographed all together surrounding her dad’s illness. He’s the one with the cowboy hat & such a handsome man. He was diagnosed with brain cancer in September, then had surgery, and at the time of the photo session…..he could hardly stand much but was such a trooper and pulled through. At the time of the session, so much was still unknown about his prognosis and I hated to hear how he and his amazing wife have been dealing with ongoing ups and downs. I can’t even imagine.
In being diagnosed recently, it has brought the family together more and causing each of them to realize the importance of making memories together and capturing them in photos to look back on some day.
Here’s pretty much how my session went (smiling as I tell you):
I met Jill in Justin, TX…..a country-like town known for their cowboy boots (at least that’s what I know it for). Did I mention, that these are some of the things that I appreciate more and more getting to be a part of as I’m settling back in Texas. So…..I followed Jill in my car to where the session would take place. I love being spontaneous and making locations work for people, especially when they are meaningful to them. But….had no idea where we were going. I followed her further out into the country, turned onto a dirt/gravel road and expected to pull up to a house……nope. All of the sudden I saw a caravan of big trucks, start turning into a huge cow pasture….a gigantic one that didn’t seem to have an end. We drove for a while in tall wheat-y grass, then arrived at a spot with a big old tree standing with other large old fallen trees around it, with the perfect pond in the background……a goose-bump moment for sure. As I stepped out of the car, the family welcomed me and asked if my car was alright…as I didn’t have the clearance like the big trucks…ha ha…..I just told them I got a good under car cleaning and all was good.
I found out later that this is the spot where they go to check on the cattle and let the grandkids fish. Sweetness.

Can you tell who is being added to the family? A new and stunning bride? I’m pretty sure her groom’s sisters are breaking her in nicely….so fun. I’m looking forward to capturing this special day as well! Congratulations you two.
OH….and the most exciting news I just received a couple of days ago…….Their dad just started a new cancer treatment. His wife (mom of the family) reports that with this new treatment and lots of prayer….his cancer has reduced by 50%. Hooray. Such good news & hope that all continues to go well!
Thanks for letting me spend this time with your family! I had so much fun and couldn’t help but to soak up the love you guys had for each other.

I am the father of the family above. I really appreciate Jennifer coming and helping us preserve this time in photos.
